Where to Get Inspired About Experience Design

My biggest inspiration for creating experiences hasn’t come from studying customer or brand experience directly. Instead, I’ve found inspiration in these fields:

𝗔𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲: Observing how architects and interior designers structure spaces, create thresholds and guide people through a journey of exploration within a museum and gallary.

𝗙&𝗕 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗛𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆: Studying how restaurants, hotels, and airlines design their services—from crafting menus to creating atmospheres—and how staff or flight attendants interact to deliver seamless, memorable experiences. Similarly, seeing how tour guides structure walking tours to share a city’s history and architecture in engaging ways.

𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲: Understanding how performances build tension and captivate audiences. For instance, in a circus performance, the tricks grow progressively more complex to maintain excitement. In musicals, recurring melodies or themes emphasize key messages and evoke emotional resonance.

𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗙𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Exploring how trainers and facilitators design workshops that help participants not only learn but also apply the content in their work. Every exercise is carefully crafted to be both easy to understand and deeply transformative.
